3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Gala

In honor of this weekend’s amazing Triple Crown win by American Pharaoh (the first in 37 years!), we thought that it would be a great time to share with y’all about one of our favorite events that we have had the privilege of hosting the past three years...

This event is a special one.  Not only does it raise money for a good cause (Sugar Creek Equinapy specializes in therapeutic riding lessons.  You can read more about the amazing things they do here.), but it also is just SO MUCH FUN!

First of all, there is the wonderful Kentucky Derby Decor.  It's so festive!
Of course, the "Run for the Roses" made the flower choice of the day pretty easy...
Aren't they beautiful?

Then there is our favorite tradition, the hat contest.  Just check out these beauties!
When you looked around it almost felt like we were at Churchill Downs!
What we especially love about this tradition is that it gets their guests excited and involved prior to the event.  Having your guests plan outfits or costumes is a great way to build enthusiasm leading up to the party date.  Plus, you are more likely to get RSVP's when there is a contest involved!

Speaking of getting guests involved, they had some great prizes for their silent auction!

Of course, no Derby themed party would be complete without the Derby’s official drink, mint juleps.  Our lovely Lisa made them and they were perfect!
YUM!

This year's gala was made even more special with a live band!
Party Tip: When hosting an annual event, it is always great to add something new each year. This year the band was a great touch that everyone really enjoyed!

Everyone was so pleased with this year's turnout.  It's so fun watching this event grow and we are so thankful that Sugar Creek Equinapy lets us be a part of this special day!
Once again, thank you Sugar Creek Equinapy for all you do and for choosing Faulkner's Ranch for your gala! And congrats again to American Pharoah on making history!
