Tuesday Treats: Not Your Average Snow Ice Cream

Most of us know the traditional way to make snow ice cream:

8 cups of snow, 1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract all mixed together.

But, if you have five minutes and are looking to switch things up, why not try this recipe?

To make "Not Your Average Snow Ice Cream" you will need:

10 cups of clean snow

1 cup of cream

1/2 cup of sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix

Now follow these directions:

1.  Stir 6 cups of snow and the rest of the ingredients together until they have reached a thick, milk-shake like consistency.

2.  Cover the bowl and set it out in the snow for about fifteen minutes.

3.  Mix in the rest of the snow.  The mixture should now be thick like ice cream and ready to eat!  Top with your chocolate syrup, sprinkles, fruit, etc.

Snow Day Activities

Is all of this snow giving you cabin fever and making your kiddos bounce off the walls!  Why not head outside and enjoy the weather?!

Here are 5 awesome snow activities that you can do with your kids!

Enjoy!

1.  Tic-Tac-Snow

Using crisscrossed sticks for X's and pine cones for O's, challenge your friends to a snow game of Tic-Tac-Toe by drawing the board in the snow.

2.  Snow Graffiti

Fill spray bottles and squirt bottles with colored water or Kool-aid to create your own snow paint.  Then have your kids show off their art skills on the perfect white canvas!

3.  Snow Golf

Four!  Make a winter wonderland golf course by packing down a section of snow every few feet. Create holes burying tin cans halfway down in the snow and marking them with mini flag sticks.  Use a small plastic ball and have a blast!

4. Snow Treasure Hunt

Freeze colored water in an ice cube tray.  Hide the brightly colored frozen cubes in the snow and see who can find their colors the fastest!

5.  Ice Bubbles

Go outside on any day when it’s below 32 degrees F and try this:

Blow a bubble and then catch it on the bubble wand.  Wait a few moments and watch it freeze!

It will turn into a cool crystal ball before it shatters!

Birthday Showcase

One of the super cool birthday cakes we've seen here at the ranch!

We've mentioned it before, but we'll say it again...

We just LOVE birthday parties here at the ranch!

Not only do we get to meet some of the coolest little cowboys and cowgirls, but we are also just blown away by the creativity of their parents.

Just check out some of the awesome ideas and pictures from a few weeks ago!

 This little cowgirl attended Pony Camp last summer.  She takes horseback riding lessons and told us that she is now a "professional rider."  You go cowgirl!  That's why she wanted to celebrate her birthday at Faulkner's Ranch.  She wanted to show her friends where she got her start!  Isn't that cool?!

Here's another sweet cowgirl!  We just LOVE her style. Pink hat, pink bandanna, pink horseshoes on her shirt!  She is rockin' the western chic look for sure!

And check out the amazing cake that her mama made.  Isn't it unbelievable?

Take a stroll and visualize yourself saying “I do” under the romantic wedding arbor in front of the beautiful, nature filled backdrop.

Then imagine your guests mixing and mingling under the covered pavilion as they gather to wait for your special ceremony and party after you have tied the knot.

Then head on over to Benjamin Ranch where you will be greeted by Jessica.  

Enjoy a cold beer and some delicious smoked wings as you explore this historic and timeless site.

View some of Russ Lawrence’s amazing tablescapes as you take in this rustic location, complete with exposed beams, a beautiful stage, and large dance floor.

Envision yourself getting married in the party barn and them seamlessly transitioning over to your reception on the other side.

Word From the Herd: A Harley Birthday

One of the things that we love about our two venues is how they can be transformed to fit almost any theme.

A prime example of this is the AMAZING Harley Davidson Themed 75th Birthday Party that was hosted by the ever creative Gosselin clan last weekend at the Benjamin Ranch.  You might recall some of their past events and creations.  Seriously, when they get together there is no stopping their event awesomeness.  

This party was a surprise celebration for Milt, their loving father and grandfather. 
When he walked into the barn over at Benjamin Ranch he had no idea what was in store for him that afternoon...

Let's just say, he was truly impressed!

People from as far back as Milt’s childhood friends were invited to celebrate his big 75th birthday.  Michele, his daughter, created the invitations using a picture that she had taken when Milt purchased his Harley (we told you he’s a wild one!) and had them printed through Shutterfly.  Shutterfly is a great invitation resource and you can often find great deals on their printing services.

To get everyone in the party spirit, they were greeted at the door by the Gosselin family.  All of the guests were given a dew-rag, tattoos (fake, of course), and a name tag which included how they knew Milt.
Milt was even suited up with big birthday gift of some hot new chaps...

The decor is really what set this event apart.  With just a few additions, they were able to transform the barn into a wild motorcycle evening for this milestone party!

Take the cake table for example...it’s one that you might not expect to see at a 75th birthday party.  

Let’s just say - the “hot bod displays” were really the icing on the cake and a perfect addition to the Harley theme.  

Speaking of those Biker Babes, the mannequins and their sassy attire came from local thrift stores. 

As for the Harley engine replicas that were scattered throughout the party place, they came from P-Ayr Products in Leavenworth, KS.

One of the highlights of the evening was the amazing photo wall.  Lisa Gosselin, Milt's daughter-in-law, rigged up this beauty by painting some to resemble sheet metal and adding a Harley-Davidson vinyl logo (have we mentioned that she is the queen of vinyl?).  She then added some racing flag decor that Michele had found to really give it a pop!

This photo booth was a great idea!
They first used it as the perfect backdrop for Milt to model his new biker attire to the tune of "Bad To the Bone."  After that, it was not only was it a fun activity for the guests, but it also provided some really neat and out of the ordinary family and friend photo keepsakes...

The Biker Babes even got some extra attention here ;o)

Like father, like son.

The party people then chowed down on some amazing food that included Faulkner's smoked wings (teriyaki and plain), mozzarella sticks, chips and salsa, popcorn, firecracker crackers, and more.

They also had pedal car races, a corn hole toss, bull riding and other games available for their guests to play and enjoy.

Overall, this was a super fun party with lots of fantastic memories!  Thanks to the Gosselin clan for bringing some wild fun to the Benjamin Ranch!
